Every screenplay submitted to the Award is read and scored. Here is what comes after you hit submit.
01 / The Review
Your AFA Script Score
You will receive your full AFA Script Score by email, a professional written review across six categories that runs one to two pages, with notes on what is working and where to take it next. Watch your inbox, and check your spam folder if you do not see it.
02 / Official Selections
Laurels Every Month
Each month, one screenplay is named the Official Selection and earns official AFA laurels. Official Selections are announced at the end of the following month. The competition runs four months, so there are four Official Selections, and each one takes a place in the final.
03 / The Award
One Winner on Stage
At the end, the four Official Selections compete, and the winner accepts the Award on stage at the AFA Founding Gala at The Beverly Hilton on November 8, 2026.
